Audio & NLP Lab

The Virtual Lab for Audio & NLP is part of the Virtual Lab Clusters within the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering (DoECE). This lab focuses on research in audio processing and natural language processing (NLP), aiming to advance both technical capabilities and real-world applications in these fields.

Through collaboration between faculty and students, the Audio & NLP Lab provides an opportunity to work on projects that have the potential to transform the way we interact with technology in our everyday lives. This lab serves as a platform for research, mentorship, and innovation, encouraging students to actively participate in advanced research activities in audio & NLP.

Research Areas:

Major research areas in the Audio & NLP Lab include:

  • Audio Processing: Improving techniques for analyzing, enhancing, and transforming audio signals.
  • Speech Recognition: Developing systems that can accurately convert spoken language into text, with a special focus on Nepali and other regional languages.
  • Speech Synthesis: Creating realistic, human-like speech from text input for use in various digital assistants and communication systems.
  • Nepali Language Processing: Exploring the challenges and advancements in computational methods for understanding and generating the Nepali language.
  • Semantics: Investigating how meaning is derived from language, both spoken and written, to improve machine understanding and human-computer interaction.
